Independence Day

July for Americans is typically a time remembered for summer activities, heat, and Fourth of July celebrations. These Independence Day celebrations are a big deal as America marks its independence from Great Britain. Once a Christian accepts salvation through Christ Jesus they receive independence. They experience freedom. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2, NKJV).”

While for hundreds of years there have many celebrations marking our nation’s freedom from King James tyranny, yet so grand is the liberation from sin that the bible states that even the angels rejoice when an individual accepts the saving grace God provides through Jesus (Luke 15:10). Now there’s a celebration!

Let us take some time to reflect upon and celebrate our independence due to God’s grace in sending His son to die in our place on the cross. Jesus, God’s son is our liberator who has freed us from enslavement to sin and spiritual death. We must also acknowledge our dependence on the Holy Spirit to guide us on how best live this freedom out. For Americans Independence Day is July 4, but for Christians saved by the precious blood of Jesus Independence Day is every day.

Stay Prayed Up,
