Old Testament People of Commitment

According to Exodus 1:15, the king of Egypt said to two Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah, when you do the work of a midwife to Hebrew women, if they birth a son, you are to kill him, but if it is a girl, let her live. But the midwives feared God, and did not obey Egypt's king command and the male babies were left alive (Exodus 1:17). How did this help the Hebrew people?

Were Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives, Egyptian or Hebrew women?

If the midwives would have carried out the king's command, the Hebrews would no longer exist.

Another person of the Old Testament People committed to God was Rehab. What was her role in God's plan?
