The Way of New Life

In the lesson for May 31, 2009, "Equipped for New Life" (Ephesians 6:10-18), Paul likens the weapons used by warriors to those needed or available for spiritual warfare. Christians should be equipped with the armor of God in order to fight the spiritual battles that occur in their lives. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us to "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:" Paul directed us in Ephesians 6:10 to be strong in the Lord and in the power of HIS might. We don't have the resources to fight satan on our own, so we must look to the armor that God provides. Because God loves us, he provides protection. Jesus must be the focus of our faith. Our own righteousness cannot protect us, we must take our eyes off self and place them on Jesus. Jesus gives us salvation --present, past and future. Jesus is the way & the truth. We must hide his word in our hearts and be ready to carry the gospel of peace. Stay prayerful and rely on the power of God's might when faced with temptations and other attacks from satan.
