The Promised Birth Fulfilled

As we enter the season of celebration for the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we note that the unit title change reflects the study of His coming. The topic for December 6, "The Lineage of David," as presented in Ruth 4:13-17 tells of Naomi, a Hebrew woman, who was considered to be broken, dejected and despondent, by her own standards, but not by God. Naomi's husband and sons had died, however a faithful loving daughter-in-law Ruth, a Moabite, made an action covenant with her. Through Ruth, who married Boaz, Naomi was revived and her legacy lives on, because Ruth gave birth to Obed, the grandfather of David, the most famous king in the history of Israel. This study helps us to realize that God's work will be done even through our most difficult times; that we do not know how God plan to work through us or what God has in store for our future. We know He will keep His promise. In addition to the study of Ruth, in this lesson Matthew (Matthew 1:1-6), believed to be one of the disciples of Jesus, writes about the genealogy of Jesus Christ. It is important to note that from this study God's work includes people of all backgrounds and races. His nature is all inclusive and He will use anyone who is willing to submit to His will and purpose.
