The New Covenant Community

As Christian believers, we are "Pursuing Virtue," the topic of our lesson for Sunday, November 22, 2009. According to the scriptures of the lesson in 2 Peter 1: 3-15, God allows us to participate in His divine nature and He has given us all the resources necessary for us to live a godly life. Unlike 1 Peter, where we discussed how we should deal with the problems on the outside, 2 Peter talks about the problems internally. We should be in pursuit of moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and a selfless love for all. Our good and kind deeds should be the norm rather than the exceptions. Although, we all fall prey to sin, our daily lives should be lived as if we are expecting our Lord's return, striving to elevate our faith a little closer to God. We can only do this by the divine power of Christ, which allows us to have a repentant spirit, because our contract with Him allows us to continuously confess and seek cleansing from Him. Despite our imperfect ways God does not reject us, He demonstrates His love, now we are called live according to His high standards, in love. How are you doing?
